TASK MANAGEMENT

As the semester is almost over, there are several due dates of tests, projects, and major essays coming up. I do have a lot of works to finish before the final. CLS blogging and major/career project were two of them. I had 2 projects and a major essay due on same day tomorrow and CLS blogging today. So I needed this task management. One of task strategies tells me to do the hardest works first but I do the opposite way. I try to finish the easy tasks first to get rid of choirs and finish the important works at last to concentrate more on it after I finish all the easy works. I decided to use Priority Lists and Post-it Reminders as my strategies for this last blog. Then I needed these strategies for three classes with projects and essays, ENL211, CLS105, and IST195. These three classes had an essay and projects due on same day, Monday.

Firstly, I used priority lists to organize my most important works to finish. I looked up my grades from each class and instructions to find which one is the hardest. ENL211 was for final major essay, CLS 105 was for major/career project, and IST195 was for Project 2. I finished CLS 105 project to hand it in on Sunday last week to hand it in on Monday because I had already started this project and only had to write a reflection and I had a lot of works to finish and I was going to leave school on Thursday for Easter. Then major essay from ENL211 seemed to have the least work of all because it was only 2 pages. I borrowed books to write about it from the Bird library and started to research about what I'm going to write about. and then finished it on Wednesday. I was going to finish this on Tuesday and finish the IST195 project on Wednesday but I couldn't finish the essay because it took a lot of time to write each paragraphs as the instructor had a high expectation of this major essay. Then I finished the IST195 project on the same day, Wednesday. Also these are done by the most important works to the least decided by grades in each class.

For the next strategy, I used Post-it reminders. It helps me to keep in track of what I have to do next and what important things are coming up. It reminds me of my school works that should be done in what time and how. I put projects and essays in a red Post-it to show that it is very important and I put quizzes and things to study in a green Post-it and homework and less important things in yellow paper. Nothing is optional but necessary. All of them should be done but they are divided by types and importances of works.

These two strategies helped me to organize tasks better and be alert to what is due and important in the near future.

Task Management

This week's topic is task management and it is very important for me to stay on task because I am a huge procrastinator. For this topic I have chose my Illustration research paper because it is such a huge research paper I had to do and I started it way before. As you see on the picture on the left, I have devide my parts into 6, like using the chunking the task. So, first I chose my topic as a Propaganda. Then I have done some research on it to find out brief informations on what I was writing on.

Then The picture on the left, I have started wrting things out and putting pictures according to the imformation I was giving. After writing my paper, it became my rough draft. Then I have reread it to see if I made any grammatical mistakes.

Then this picture on the left shows that the parts that I have highlighted. This was my step 4. I have highlighted grammatical errors to see what kind of mistakes I have made so I can fix it to make it a better quality paper.

My step 5 was to write bibiliography and cite the sources. As you see it on the left, I have written down all the websites I have been using to make this paper.

Finally, my last step 6 was to reread the whole paper and see if I have to make any other changes rather than grammatical errors.

After doing all these steps way before the due dates, I feel so relief and confident. Now I can let other people read my paper and make it into even a better quality research paper. I was a huge procrastinator but because of the technique I been using from CLS class, had helped me save so much time and it has helped to avoid becoming a procrastinator.

TASK MANAGEMENT

TOO MUCH WORK!!! THIS IS THE HELL!!! Literally OMG!!! Sometime, we had too much work for the class. Some students easily give up everything. However most of student at least tried to finish the HELL work for their better grade. I am one of them too.

Past week, I had many things to do. I supposed to finish my CLS project last week. However, I got serious cold. Then, I could not do anything in last week. So, I tried to finished up my CLS project due Monday. Then, my Chinese teacher gave us the quiz for Tuesday surprisingly. I was literally panic at that time. Because I supposed to finish CLS project, I had no time to study for Chinese quiz. In my head, I had already tried to find a solution for this situation. After 5 minutes, I made a great decision, which was post postpone the CLS project. Finally, I could get the perfect credit for the both quiz and project. However, the problem is this week. This week is literally Hell week. I have to do so many things to do. I have three exams for this weekend. I hope everything finish well in the end of this week.

Since this week TECH assignment is the Task Management, I really want to talk about various strategies for overcome this HELL week. There is TOP-FIVE STRATEGIES to MANAGE ASSIGNMENT. First of all, work on your hardest course first. Habitually, I tried to study easy stuff first. However, I have no energy to concentrate on the hard work. Second, do your hardest assignment first. I think this is also same content with first one. Third, let attention span is your guide to divide assignment into smaller parts. I think this is also great strategies because of maintaining an efficient level of concentration. Forth, alternate subjects during your study time. For me, I am using same kind of way to maintaining my concentration. I change the subject with 30 minutes duration. Finally, use due dates for assignments to set priorities and check them off when you complete them. This is one of the self strategies that I used before. This is also great way to finish each thing with great accomplishment. In the TOP FIVE STRATEGIES TO MANAGE ASSIGNMENT, I love to use fourth and final strategies. Those things are work for me best. Whenever I had too much work at once, I use these strategies automatically for my better concentration after taking CLS class. Last week, I also used these strategies for better studying and minimizing time for studying Chinese.

‘Divide by four + check list’

In the additional strategies, I love to use a Divide by Four’ strategy. This strategy is very useful. Whenever you are panic, you should use devide by four. This strategy consisted of 1. Prepare, 2. Start, 3. Continue, and 4. Finish. For last weekend, I had one day before surprise quiz in the Chinese class. I was panic at that time. However, I had a peace in my mind after making divide by four. Additionally, I put check list for my better learningin my case.

Chinese chapter 10 test and additional quiz

Due 2011/04/18

1. Collecting the vocabs and chapter reading

Make vocab list

Make a note card

Print out paragraph

2. Memorizing vocabs and make a new sentence about chapter topic

Make s sentence on the back of the note card

Make a sentence according to chapter grammar

Peer editing

3. Reviewing the vocab notecard and make another sentence with memorized vocab.

First review

Second review

Third review

4. Making my own paragraph with memorized vocabs about chapter topic

Peer editing

After I write each section, I wrote what should do under the each topic as a check list. At the first time, I used only Divided by four. However, I think I should put the check list under this strategy, which is maximizing my learning. After I put these two strategies together, it seems that I use divided by four more efficiently. As I made my own strategy based on the CLS strategy, my learning process is getting more and more efficient and faster. I proud of myself that I used this strategy, which is ‘Divide by four + check list’.

Sung Hoon Task Management

Our last blog topic is Task Management. As many final projects’ due date is coming soon, how I manage all that is very important and whether I success on finishing it or not is up to it. Because it is so easy for me to forget things to do and the priority, I have to leave some memo in my phone or some notes on my planner.

For this blog, I decided to try making a priority list for the rest of the semester and a target planner for CLS major exploration project.

As a kinesthetic learner, it is always good for me to put my plans and check as I finish parts.

Obviously, the major exploration project is the first thing to finish because it is due tomorrow. I am guessing this week will be a very busy week of the semester. The Japanese presentation and HW are killing me as always. Lastly, I need to fill out the IUT form to submit to the College of A&S but this is not due until the end of the semester.

The target planner shows all the ‘chunks’ of the last CLS project.

So Far, I finished every part except for online search and the last part which is writing reflection paper and submitting it.

This way, I could easily see how much I have done and feel achievement for bonus.

Learning how to learn in CLS was truly a good experience after all. There were some strategies that really helped me to become a better student and I will continue to use them.

Task MGMT

The past week would have been absolutely out of control without taking time out to refresh my mind. With my final review this past Thursday, I was working nearly non-stop for a week and didn't have time to take significant breaks. I used the five-minute vacation to help keep me focused when i didn't have time to sleep. While I didn't close my eyes to prevent getting too sleepy, I found the stretching to be very helpful with staying energized.
Working towards a final project all week I divided my project into manageable chunks. Because the Divide by Four strategy didn't make my project seem manageable enough I subdivided it into more steps spread out over the course of a week.
Looking back, I wish I would have subdivided the project into smaller parts and decided on stricter, more definitive deadlines. Simply specifying "Monday Evening" as a deadline ended up being too lenient as I used all of the said evening and into the next morning to complete the task and even into the next day, after which all my deadlines got backed up and I became more stressed. Also, if I had been more definitive about when to accomplish things I could have stuck to a schedule more diligently, allowing my professor to critique more of my work before the final review. However, here is the progress of my work over the week.

Since all of my other classes were cancelled this week due to the Studio Final, the only other assignment I had to work on this week was this blog. Therefore, I used the divide by four strategy again to make sure I completed it by Saturday night.
Because the task of getting a blog done was much less involved than completing a final studio project, it was much easier to stick to my schedule for the former. However, I hope that with practice creating and sticking to schedules will come more easily to me. As a visual learner, I will continue to post my schedules on my desk where I can see them and be reminded of me at all times. In the future I hope to continue the Divide by four strategy as well as the Five minute escape to advance my progress.

Task Management

Sadly, this will be our last blog for this class and to end it well, we talked about task management skills. It seems like it flows right after the stress and procrastination topics we went over. I think that the task management, stress and procrastination all go in one triangle. They all correlate somehow together. With a good task management skill you don't have to procrastinate and if you dont procrastinate, there will be no more stress because you will have everything done.
One skill that we have talked about was the "Divide by Four" technique which allows you to divide up the work into four parts; 1. prepare 2. start 3. continue 4. finish. I didn't really decide on which work I will use this for however, I noticed that the work I'm doing for my last CLS project, the major career exploration projects seemed to go with the flow. First I had to prepare, which was to create a proposal. Then in order to start the project, I had to go out and seek my professors, friends, schools, etc in order to finish get all the documents. Then I continued searching through online about my major and my career. I have yet done the finish part because I still have time but all I need is the reflection. I plan on doing that tonight. I didn't really mean to use the divide by four technique until I saw that this project just fit right with the technique.

Then one technique that caught me was the "Post-It Reminder". I always buy post-it so I can use it but I never do because I get lazy. However, I used it this week because I just had a lot of things to take care of. I found out that using post-its not only do they stick out in front of you but you keep looking at it if it is up there. I was able to get things done because of this and I found it very helpful. I guess because I'am a kinesthetic learner, if I SEE something in front of me like that, I will do it.

As I write my last blog, I have to say that I will definitely visit back to these blog post in order to help me in the future to see if I have forgotten any of these techniques. A lot of these strategies we have learned worked for me and it has changed the way I study and prepare well for classes. I think that with a fresh start next year, I will be able to succeed and do well in school to graduate with a great GPA. Thank you CLS for all the help.

Stressssssssss mngmnt

I'm a kinesthetic learner. As this semester is almost ending, there are a lot of projects, major essays, and tests coming from this week. I start to get lazy and relaxed because the summer vacation is coming up soon but I'm also stressed that there are so many works to finish before the semester ends. It is important to manage my stress and finish well with the last important projects, essays, and tests. For this week's strategy, stress management, I decided to use Stress Diagram and Five-Minute Escape to manage my stress. There is are two projects and a research paper due next Monday from IST 195, CLS 105, and ENL 213.

First of all, I listed the sources of stress for Stress Diagram strategy.

I found seven major sources of my stress and I drew a pie diagram to represent the relative amount of stress it is in my life. As I expected, I drew the exams, projects and essays as the biggest concern and the stress in my life, my school works. Those are the things that I cannot easily control or get rid of so I should try to get rid of other things that are stressful. For the school work, I should start doing my essays and projects earlier so I don't have to finish them all the night before the due dates because I might do badly if I finish them all at once. It will not only be stressful but also affect my grades. It is the worst choice to finish them at once.

For the second strategy, I tried Five-Minute Escape to relieve my stress in a very little time.
I followed the 8 directions that was expected to make me feel rejuvenated except for a few directions that I did not understand.
I stretched with my eye closed. Some of them really helped as a stretching but others did not feel like anything. However, overall of this stretching strategy helped me to relax myself and refresh my brain and mind. Somehow, I could concentrate on my work better after trying this strategy, stretching.
Before I tried this, I used to smoke outside to refresh myself. Sometimes smoking does not work to refresh myself and to concentrate better. I should try this when smoking does not work well for me.

I hope these strategies helped me to end my semester with the grades that I wanted and expected.

Unwoo -stress management

Stress management

In my opinion, stress in our life could be kinds of emotional and human’s body natural symptom in our life. To some people, stress treats as chronic disease. My sister, who is student in the Busan, South Korea, had have a chronic disease of stress since she became a student. Whenever she had a test or quiz in the school, she became a aggressive cat, who is very angry about something. I understand the pressure of quiz and test. However, sometime the aggressive cat extreme express her emotion. The other people, stress treat as a one of the energy in their life. When I was in the high school in the wresting or rowing team, I really enjoyed my stress. I used it as my energy. The stress before I have a game or match made me exciting.

If you lose to controlling to manage your stress, your stress will come to you as a chronic disease. Then chronic disease of stress will be more stressful to you. However, if you are good at manage your stress, it could make your life more exciting. You can use it as a source of your life. Stress management is one of the most important HOMEWORK in our life. Stress management is started from controlling your reaction to stressful situation. If you just let your reaction to the stressful situation, the stress overcomes your emotion, which is made you more stressful. However, if you change your reaction in stressful situation, you could minimize your stress. The steps to manage your stress is started to understand Causes, Relax, and Organize. It is important to understand what cause your stress, how to relax myself, and organizing my surroundings and responsibilities.

As this weekend topic is the stress management, I decided to use two strategies which are Sources of stress and Five-minute Escape. The reason is I choose these strategies that these days I think I have too much things to do. But, the thing is I even do not know what that is. I think I am pressured by many things, which is very stressful for me. Also, I am very interesting about Five-minute Escape. I think I should know the way minimize my stress for some way, which is very essential for my entire life.

Source of stress

1. Grades

2. Major

3. Career

4. Summer internship

5. Summer School

6. Spending money

7. Collect the money

8. Smoking

9. Girlfriend

10. Clubs

11. Driver license

12. Tuition

13. Living room for next semester

14. Buying car

15. Missing Korean food

16. Sick

17. Too much work

18. Friends

19. Family relationship

20. Computers

21. Homesick

22. Project

23. Final Exam

24. Rain

25. Others

When I was thinking about my stress source, I noticed that MY LIFE is stress. I just get used to some things. For focus on the academic parts, ever weekend homework is very stressful for me. ENL, CLS, and MAT every single class has a totally different homework due every Sunday. I really love to take rest on the weekend. However, for this semester, I could not have comfort, cozy, nice, easy and GOOD weekend because of too much work on the weekend. I could not even go out with my friend, which is very stressful. Especially, for MAT 183, sometime the class is easy going. However, most of time class is going too fast, which means too much homework in one weekend. Thankfully, this weekend has only two packets of problem.

For five-minute escape, I think it is very good for make a peace in my mind for second. While I was doing the MAT 183, I tried this last night for relaxing my body and mind. I think it helps me ……………….a little or maybe not. I am not mentioning that Five-minute Escape is not a good way to minimizing stress. For me, I have another way to minimize my stress, which is stretching in the outside. Habitually, it is really works for me to concentrating on things. For Five-minute Escape, I think I should practice more about it. Right now, I think stretching is worked for me.

One more time, I think managing stress is really essential skill for having better life. It is good to know the way manage our life. For me, as I am a kinetics leaner and positive mind person. I think that I naturally minimize my stress, which is great, However, for some people, managing their stress is big problem in their normal life. I recommend that finding way that makes you relax in the ordinary life is important.

Managing stress=Controlling your reaction

STRESS FOLLOWS ME EVERYWHERE!!

I am the type of learner who gets stress very easily, I mean super easily. I am a very sensitive person so, with just little things, I seem to stress about it a lot. Especially when it comes to grades, money and parents, I stress about it so much that sometimes I do not know what to do. For past few months I have been stressful about a lot of things and sometimes I try to relieve the 'unknown' stress by drinking with friends even though I know it is wrong. I never figured out what is causing me this much stress. I know that I am a very easily influenced by surroundings and get stress over it but I am never sure what is causing me to stress so much. This week's topic is stress management. Since I am a strong kinesthetic learner, I seem to work with things very well when I write it out and realize what the things are with my own eyes. So for this week I decided to write down my sources of stress and see which were causing me the most stress.

First this is a picture of my
sources of stress. Then for each list, I have labeled them either H of L to represent if the stress was a High stress or a Low stress for me. As you see in the picture on the left, The highest source of stress for me are parents, grades, money, future, major, summer plans, work, and exams. After writing these things down, I now see what is causing me to stress a lot. Before, I never knew what was causing me stress and I always just simply thought, since I get stress very easily, I never took it into serious considerations. But now I know which were causing me the most stress

Then this next picture on the left then is to see more clear and precise on my most source of stress. As you can see half of my pie diagram is filled with GPA and grades. GPA and grades then concludes that it is the biggest source that cause me the most stress. GPA has been always source of stress for me since High School because so many people always stressed me about how important GPA is in my life. I even thought GPA was more important than my health due to so many pressures from peers. Then it is money and future success that is stressing me the most. Money also has been problem for me all the time since I love love love spending money. Also, money is my stress reliever and a source of stress. Since I love money, future success has to be my next concern. I have to be successful in the future in order for me to get money that I love. Then it is majors, parents, relationships, and exams that comes after everything else.

After doing this blog, I have realized what the sources of my stress were. Next time when I am stressful, I might consider looking at this chart and find out what is causing me stress and try to get over it. I hope that even though these are my main stress, I hope that later on these stress will reduce into smaller pieces on my pie chart!

Stressing!

It is coming to end of my first year of college and I realize that a lot of us are stressing through a lot of things. Most common stresses I'm hearing from everyone is their last set of exams before finals. There are just a lot of things that everyone has to take care of before school ends and the amount of stress going up in the air is just unbelievable. So this week, our topic was on Stress Management. It has to be a lie when someone says they are stress free, because we're all in college and you have to have something that is bothering you.
One first easy strategy we learned is the Sources of Stress. It is very simple to do and all you have to do is list out all of the things that are stressing you. Below, I have a list of all my stresses. I was thinking about ranking these stresses, however they were all equally stressful that they only grouped up to make me feel more stressful. When you list out all your stresses you get to see the individual things that are bugging you. Most of the time when you are really stressed out, you don't even know what is bothering you. Everything around you seems to bother and you just don't want to deal with anything. However, by seeing a list of sources of stress you get to maybe pick at certain thing and try to solve each one by one.

Another strategy I have used was the 5 minute escape strategy which allows you to stop what you are doing for 5 minutes and just do whatever that will relax you. I used this strategy while finishing up my Mat222 homework because I was done with all my exams this week and my motivation has gone down and i only got more stress thinking about doing math homework. So in order to finish my homework, maybe after every 2 problems (since they are long) I took a 5 minute breather. I though this strategy was similar to the 10 minute strategy which i love. The 5 minute breather literally just gives you a breathing time. Whether I would visit the bathroom, walk around, go on my facebook, etc anything that didn't have to do with work helped me relieve my stress. \
I believe that the best way to cure your stress is to have a positive mind on everything and don't let work/exams just get to you. Just do what you have to do and finish strong. For those of you who are now just waiting for finals to come, dont just sit down and do nothing. Use 20 minute technique to get your studying done early so that you dont stress out too much when the final comes. Stress will only come to you if you let it.

Sung Hoon Stress

Life is full of stress. I bet everyone agrees with this statement.

As a student, I get stressed out by many things. For example, like many other students, I get stressed out because of Papers, projects, exams, major, grades, relationships, roommate, and health etc. I see some kids around me often go out to party, drink, or smoke some dry plants no matter it is regal or not. Since I neither drink nor smoke, those ways cannot be an option.

As the semester is ending, the amount of stress I am getting is constantly increasing.

In this semester, on my schedule, the stat class is the most stressful class.

I definitely thought it was necessary to list my stressors and look for solutions. (Sources of stress)

1. Papers, projects (H)- prepare beforehand (chunk tasks)

2. Exams (H)- study

3. Major (H)- Be prepared for the new major

4. Relationships (L)

5. Health (L)

6. Roommate (L)

7. Lack of sleep (L)

8. Family (H)- (No Idea)

9. Uncertainty of the future (N)

10. Registering for classes (N)

11. Body shape (H)- Work out harder

12. Church (L)

13. Military (L)

14. TAs or professors (L)

These are the main factors make me stressed. There some stressors that I can deal with now and there are some things I have to work on in a long term.

I made a stress diagram that shows what things I am concerned about and how much I am stressed out by them.

I found work-out very helpful when I need to relieve stress and this works for almost every stressor.

Procrastination XD

Everyone loves to procrastinate. It feels good to finish and feel the sense of accomplishment but it isn't easy to always finish the works much earlier than the due dates. I used to wait until the last minute or the night before the due date because the instructions of projects and tests usually change often. I sometimes had to start over my homework and projects because the instructor changes mistakes. I hate such situations so I procratinate my works often. However, procrastination is really risky. Procrastination makes me lazy and I don't really know how much it will take to finish the works. Once, I had to study for the ECN 301 exam and my friends told me that there are a lot of stuff to study for the exam that I cannot finish in one day but I procrastinated. The night before the test date, I started studying and it took me more than half an hour to collect lecture notes and slides. It was so much that I almost gave up after looking at the amount of notes that I had to study. I realized how bad it is to procrastinate works and studying but I still do it. It isn't easy for me to not procrastinate and do works early.

First of all, I tried the Time Wasters to make more time for myself to do what I got to do. As I'm taking more classes than last semester, I'm much busier now and I need to make more time to do my works earlier and on time. After thinking about my daily lives, I found out some time wasters of my days. Texting and calling, my cell phone makes me busier every day. There isn't really a point of texting all day with friends but I do and it wastes my time. It only takes a few seconds to text each one but I can't do any other work while contacting with friends. I sometimes spend so much time playing computer games at night and it makes me tired on the other day. Also I sleep so much everyday when there isn't any morning class and I chill on my bed which wastes my time. Because of such time wasters, I easily avoid school works such as homework, studying for tests, quizzes, writing essay, and skipping classes.
Second of all, Rewards is a good strategy to boost me from procrastinating. I used to reward myself after each big works are done. These make me want to finish the works that I got to do. I have homework, reading, writing, studying for tests, quizzes, and projects to do. The sense of accomplishment satisfies me but these are different rewards which are more materialistic as I'm a kinesthetic learner. I eat, play games, chill, sleep and order foods to eat while playing games. Also I watch love watching TV. I do my the things that I like in SU. There aren't not enough things to distress so these are the only. I sometimes go to NYC to distress and have fun.
These two strategies help me a lot to catch up works and not procrastinate. I used rewarding to satisfy and distress myself after the accomplishments. Time wasters was a new way that I tried. It was good to write it out and find out my time wasters rather than just thinking about what's bad. I'm going to keep in track what wastes my time when I feel like I'm procrastinating. I believe it will improve my school life better and more productive.

A Chronic Procrastinator...Is that Me?

Last week after completing the Time Waster's Chart I realized that something that I spent a lot of time procrastinating on was my Sketchbook for my ARC 182 Representations class. Since I really want to do a good job on my sketchbook I usually end up spending too much time on it. Because it takes so much time for me, I typically put it off until last on the list and then the assignments just don't get done. As you can see on my D's Do and Due List that I made at the beginning of last month, pretty much the only thing that I don't do each day is my sketchbook assignment (Highlighted in Pink). Since I have to hand it in at the beginning of class on Wednesday, I realized that I'm really crunched for time and needed to use one of the procrastination techniques on my sketchbook so that I could hand it in on time. Therefore I decided to use the Procrastination Attack Plan and made it onto a chart because I am a Visual Learner and so that it could be a constant reminder to me on my studio Desk as I completed my work.
I used time increments to divide the large tasks and set out a schedule to do it during the free time I have. For each increment completed I get a small reward that won't take up too much time. My ultimate goal is to have others look through my sketchbook and critique it so at the end of each day my goal is to have another person flip through it and tell me what I can improve. Because I am so motivated to impress my peers it will be hard not to act on my plan. The Action of creating the Attack Plan Chart made me realize how much I still have left to do and even more eager to finish my tasks. The Time increments will help me stay on the schedule, especially since I have a designated amount of material to complete within the prescribed time. I plan on using an online timer as well to aid my progress. Because the reward system has worked so well foe me in the past, I Know that the motivation that I have to do these assignments will be successful.

Procrastination is my worst enemy!

Procrastinating was always something that followed me everywhere. Not only academic wise, but also when I have to fill out an application for something, procrastination always followed me. When I can just do the paper works way before the due date but I just wait until the day before and end up having to turn in a very bad quality of application. If I were to do it way before the due date, I can look it over and over and make sure if I made any mistakes and make it a better application. With homework, and studying for exams, I always happen to do them right before the day. I hated being me when it comes to procrastinating. Why do I always procrastinate? I have all the time I want but I never seems to use them wisely. Even doing laundry, cleaning the room, I always say ' I will just do it tomorrow..' then this continues on and on and on. I have tried many times to fix this problem but it always failed after few days of trying. I just hate the fact of studying and having to do work. However, I just cannot live my life this way so I have decided to use few stradegies that are most effective for me. First I have used the time waster to see what really is affecting me to avoid the things that I have to do. First biggest time waster I have written down was use of my cellphone. I cannot live without my cellphone. I get very scared and anxious if I do not have my phone next to me. It has been a habit of mine that even when I am eating I have my phone next to me. Even my parents gave up on me when I am using my phone. Because the use of my phone, I avoided doing my daily homework for classes and do them right before the class. Doing the homework right before class make my homework very poor quality and end up getting a bad grade on it. The next biggest time waster of mine would be using the computer. Computer is my second cellphone. Computer is with me all the time and I am on facebook all the time. Before, when I thought facebook was avoiding me from doing many things, so I had deactivated my facebook for a week. And it was successful, I had many things done during that period time and I felt like I actually have a life. But the problem was many people could not contact me and I was loosing my social life. The last biggest time waster I have is sleeping. I love sleeping and eating. I would choose sleeping and eating over studying any time. Sleeping and eating avoided me from going to classes on time. These were my biggest time waster of my whole life and it had avoided me from doing so many things. Then I thought I should really do something about it. And I found the rewards method. Since I was a little girl, I loved getting rewarded, from my parents or from a competition. So I thought this stradegy will help me a lot. This is a chart of things that should be done to be rewarded. First I thought getting good grades for myself and for my parents were most important thing for me to get done. Then the rewards would be raising my allowance money. Getting good grades will definately make my parents happy and that will make them raise my allowance money. Secondly, my goal right now is to either move to whitman college or transfer out of SU. In order for me to achieve those things, I have to get a good GPA. So studying hard and getting a good GPA will reward me a good future and graduate school. Also, last thing to be done is work hard as a RSA. I am working at school as a RSA and for that I have to work hard in order for me to keep the job and get paid well. And whenver I get paid, I go out and eat. So basically going out and eating would be my reward of working hard as a RSA. I have used two stradegies in order for me to fix my biggest problem I ever had. So far, having to write down specifically what my biggest problems and the most effective ways to fix those problems, it has helped me do things on time. Hopefully this techniques will help me continue to do things on time and get rewarded for it just as I wished for.
