Stressing!

It is coming to end of my first year of college and I realize that a lot of us are stressing through a lot of things. Most common stresses I'm hearing from everyone is their last set of exams before finals. There are just a lot of things that everyone has to take care of before school ends and the amount of stress going up in the air is just unbelievable. So this week, our topic was on Stress Management. It has to be a lie when someone says they are stress free, because we're all in college and you have to have something that is bothering you.
One first easy strategy we learned is the Sources of Stress. It is very simple to do and all you have to do is list out all of the things that are stressing you. Below, I have a list of all my stresses. I was thinking about ranking these stresses, however they were all equally stressful that they only grouped up to make me feel more stressful. When you list out all your stresses you get to see the individual things that are bugging you. Most of the time when you are really stressed out, you don't even know what is bothering you. Everything around you seems to bother and you just don't want to deal with anything. However, by seeing a list of sources of stress you get to maybe pick at certain thing and try to solve each one by one.

Another strategy I have used was the 5 minute escape strategy which allows you to stop what you are doing for 5 minutes and just do whatever that will relax you. I used this strategy while finishing up my Mat222 homework because I was done with all my exams this week and my motivation has gone down and i only got more stress thinking about doing math homework. So in order to finish my homework, maybe after every 2 problems (since they are long) I took a 5 minute breather. I though this strategy was similar to the 10 minute strategy which i love. The 5 minute breather literally just gives you a breathing time. Whether I would visit the bathroom, walk around, go on my facebook, etc anything that didn't have to do with work helped me relieve my stress. \
I believe that the best way to cure your stress is to have a positive mind on everything and don't let work/exams just get to you. Just do what you have to do and finish strong. For those of you who are now just waiting for finals to come, dont just sit down and do nothing. Use 20 minute technique to get your studying done early so that you dont stress out too much when the final comes. Stress will only come to you if you let it.
