This week I used the Ranking Priorities strategy to organize all the tasks I had to get accomplished. Before reading about this strategy, I had already done something similar where I wrote down all the outstanding tasks and highlighted them with colors that communicated their urgency. Because I am a visual learner, I decided to keep the highlighting/color strategy to rank my priorities. Afterwards, I reorganized the tasks within the color groups on the other side of the page.
Normally when ranking my priorities, I would just complete the the tasks in the order that I thought to write them down, without giving much thought to what I actually needed to get done first. This caused many problems because when I tried to complete my work, the things that i needed to get done first were always left out standing even though I had spent hours and hours of my time doing homework. Putting everything in order according to due dates and their optionality really assisted me in seeing what I needed to do and when I needed to do it.
Sweet! I decided to use ranking priorities too and for me it really allowed me to look at what was absolutely needed to be done first before doing anything else. It helped me focus on the things I had to do first so that I could do things I enjoy doing. Its a great strategy to use when you have problem figuring out what to do first. great job!
ReplyDeleteI have used the ranking priorities just like you did. Since I am a visual learner myself, I loved how you color coated your rank priorities. Ranking priories helped me realize what stuffs comes before than the others and what were more important to me. I hope this stradegy worked well with you just like it worked well with me. I enjoyed reading your blogg
ReplyDeleteYes, I also used Ranking priorities as my strategy. I totally agree with you that you should finish things have to be done first. I listed my things in order of importance but putting things in order according to due dates look nice easpecially when you have too many things. Good blog.
