Procrastination XD

Everyone loves to procrastinate. It feels good to finish and feel the sense of accomplishment but it isn't easy to always finish the works much earlier than the due dates. I used to wait until the last minute or the night before the due date because the instructions of projects and tests usually change often. I sometimes had to start over my homework and projects because the instructor changes mistakes. I hate such situations so I procratinate my works often. However, procrastination is really risky. Procrastination makes me lazy and I don't really know how much it will take to finish the works. Once, I had to study for the ECN 301 exam and my friends told me that there are a lot of stuff to study for the exam that I cannot finish in one day but I procrastinated. The night before the test date, I started studying and it took me more than half an hour to collect lecture notes and slides. It was so much that I almost gave up after looking at the amount of notes that I had to study. I realized how bad it is to procrastinate works and studying but I still do it. It isn't easy for me to not procrastinate and do works early.

First of all, I tried the Time Wasters to make more time for myself to do what I got to do. As I'm taking more classes than last semester, I'm much busier now and I need to make more time to do my works earlier and on time. After thinking about my daily lives, I found out some time wasters of my days. Texting and calling, my cell phone makes me busier every day. There isn't really a point of texting all day with friends but I do and it wastes my time. It only takes a few seconds to text each one but I can't do any other work while contacting with friends. I sometimes spend so much time playing computer games at night and it makes me tired on the other day. Also I sleep so much everyday when there isn't any morning class and I chill on my bed which wastes my time. Because of such time wasters, I easily avoid school works such as homework, studying for tests, quizzes, writing essay, and skipping classes.
Second of all, Rewards is a good strategy to boost me from procrastinating. I used to reward myself after each big works are done. These make me want to finish the works that I got to do. I have homework, reading, writing, studying for tests, quizzes, and projects to do. The sense of accomplishment satisfies me but these are different rewards which are more materialistic as I'm a kinesthetic learner. I eat, play games, chill, sleep and order foods to eat while playing games. Also I watch love watching TV. I do my the things that I like in SU. There aren't not enough things to distress so these are the only. I sometimes go to NYC to distress and have fun.
These two strategies help me a lot to catch up works and not procrastinate. I used rewarding to satisfy and distress myself after the accomplishments. Time wasters was a new way that I tried. It was good to write it out and find out my time wasters rather than just thinking about what's bad. I'm going to keep in track what wastes my time when I feel like I'm procrastinating. I believe it will improve my school life better and more productive.

  2. Nice blog, Seongju. Listing rewards would be a great way to motivate yourself. Especially, when the reward are coming right after tasks, you would not want to procrastinate.
