Procrastination is one of the chronic disease for student life. I have lots of friend that suffered by procrastination. Procrastination had a deep relationship with a consequence. Most of time, procrastination are caused by consequence, which is already happened and will be happened. Procrastination caused many forms of behavior in our life such as avoidance behavior, self-criticism, and rationalization. It makes me coward, loser, and sneaker. Procrastination makes us to hard to put our all effort to our works. Also, even if our consequences are bad, procrastination makes ourselves to pretend to be hard worker, which is very cowardly.
In all my life, procrastination never helped me to be a better student. However, procrastination is always great supporter to be a liar, coward, and sneaker. When I was in the Saint Mary preparatory school, I was in the rowing team in the spring season. As our school rowing team always champion in the Michigan, teachers loved their rowers in their school. They knew our practice is very hard and tough. They always helped us as a supporter. It was great honor to have teachers as a supporter. However, that was not all about it. In the spring season, I was never prepared for the classes perfectly. I always made an excused for my homeworks and quizzes. For four years, I became ‘King of the Excuse’ in every single spring season. After I came to the college, I noticed that I was making excuses not for teacher. Surprisingly, I was making excuses for myself, which is called rationalization.
When I was doing a ‘Excuse Busting’, I made a 2 sections in the first section. One is for excuse to me and the other is excuse to my teacher. As I was using an ‘Excuse Busting’, I felt embarrassed by myself. Also, I notice this is all about CHI 102. Chinese is the easiest class in my schedule right now. At the same time, it is most interesting class. Also, teacher is very nice to students. Most of time, I don’t do the homework. Every time, I did not do the homework, I made excuses to myself. For example, Chinese quiz and test is more important. Also, I made a excuse for my teacher such as sickness. However, I knew I have different reason. I really do not want to do the homework. Because most of homework need physical works, which is hand writing. Also, I already have perfect score for the quiz and test. So, I do not need to do homework. This is true reason, which is very procrastination.
Actually, for this class, I have had difficulties. I just use a 10 mins test prep for the reviewing. Also, I am the kinetic leaner. I used note cards for the vocabulary quiz and test. For the easy learning this class is actually heading to best outcome. However, I should know that I should careful just in case. Even if I am fully understanding about lecture, my behavior could change my grade. I think my procrastination is very serious problem in my behavior. I think it was great time to reviewing myself to be a better student.
Procrastination=chronic disease

ReplyDeleteI really liked the way you described procrastination as avoidance behavior, self-criticism, and rationalization. Those were the words I was looking for when i was writing my blog. Seems liek the time wasters was helpful to you too.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a very good strategic idea to write all of your excuses down because I know I make a lot of excuses for myself. When I imagine telling these excuses to the people who are helping me pay for my education, it makes me feel bad enough to get my work done.
ReplyDeleteGood blog. it feels good to look at your colorful and decorated blogs every time. Excuses always come with the problem of procrastination. Procrasinaters always don't blame on themselves. They always have excuses to justify themselves. Hope it changed you a lot. Good work!
