This week, creating my To Do Notes was on my To Do list. I was actually pretty excited to apply this strategy because I have been looking for a way to organize my notes for my Studio class in a meaningful/helpful way for me to reference later. Before using this strategy when reviewing my Studio notes, I would only look at the pictures I drew of examples during class, and if there didn't happen to be any pictures, I would just skip over that page of information.
What I liked about the To Do notes strategy was that the information I took down in class became graphically organized, which caters to my Visual Learning style. It was also useful to me because I was forced to reread all of my notes and reorganize it in a comprehensive manner, catering to my Kinesthetic side. the action of organizing the information into the different pieces of the chart was key for me because many times in the past I had forgotten important information for lack of want to rereading my jumbled and wordy class notes. The Chart definitely facilitates quick referencing, which helps me focus on the material I need to focus on for the next iteration of a design project. Using an overall assignment To Do Chart in conjunction with a daily To Do chart also helps me understand how each class is relevant to the creation of the final project, which we are evaluated on.
Though rewriting the information into a chart each class was useful, I felt that some of the information I was writing down become redundant as I had already written it in my overarching (long-term) To Do Chart and my class notes. Also, I am still figuring out if there would me titles for each block that would be more relevant to my Studio course.
Alison! it seems that you used to do note skill! I also totally agreed that your skill is very skillful and productive to organize and review what you ve leared. it looks very goods. I hope that To do skill help you to organize your note. it was nice to read. Nice blog!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was going back to see what strategies i could use this week. I saw the name of this strategy and i thought it would be cool to use but when i read it, it was supposedly best for project based courses and since you are an architect I thought you would use this and you did! Good job!
ReplyDeleteI have tried the SU/Cornell note taking strategy. It is very neat how you applied the to do note strategy but like you said the notes can be redundant at times. I would suggest for you to take the SU/Cornell notes because it is just reducing the bunch of informations you have gathered from the lectures. nice blog!
ReplyDeleteYou are the only one who used same method. I enjoyed reading your blog by comparing with mine. I also read your comment and thank you for your suggestion. You did great job on yours, too. This To-Do Notes method must helped you a lot because you are an architecture major student I think. I hope it helped you a lot with your studio class. Good job.
